Romantic Golden Hour Couple’s Session at Horseshoe Bend
It has always been a dream of mine to have a couples session at Horseshoe Bend and I finally got to make it happen. Truly, it is one of the most beautiful and jaw-dropping places I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. It was the total opposite of sandy beaches and the Blue Ridge Mountains that were home to me. When photographing Christina and Andrew, the incredible colorful sunset fell behind us. I felt as though I caught a small glimpse of heaven. The sheer vastness and size of the canyon were breathtaking. It’s hard to believe that we live in a world where places like Horseshoe Bend actually exist.
As a native of the east coast, there was a lot about The Grand Canyon and Horseshoe Bend that I did not know.
- There are two rims to the Grand Canyon – The North Rim and The South Rim.
- It takes roughly 2 hours to drive from one rim to the other.
- Horseshoe Bend is technically not a part of The Grand Canyon and actually owned by the city of Page, Arizona.
- Driving through Monument Valley to Page, your time may jump forward an hour. This completely freaked me out, making me think I was almost late for my session! I later found out that the Navajo Indian Reservation is right next door to Page, Arizona. If you didn’t already know, Arizona does not follow Daylight Savings Time, but the Navajo Indian Reservation does. During Daylight Savings Time when we fall back an hour, don’t be alarmed if your clock jumps forward an hour when driving through this area.
Christina + Andrew
Taking Christina and Andrew to Horseshoe Bend for their session was a no-brainer. They wanted a location with an extraordinary view to capture their love and have fun celebrating Andrew’s birthday. We arrived in the parking lot about an hour before sunset. This was our first time meeting in person and we immediately greeted each other with an excited hug! On our walk down to the bend, we chatted the whole walk down about Christina’s job as owner of Seventh Made and what all I had done in Arizona during my visit. After our .75 mile walk down a path, we had arrived at the spectacular view. We were all left speechless at the beauty that is Horseshoe Bend.
It was a dream leaving Arizona having photographed a couple at one of my bucket list locations and leaving with a newfound friendship with Christina and Andrew.
